Looking the CO pic on the PHSCO blog..i can see the happiness in u guys.
True, CO has been through many ups and downs. my dear juniors esp u guys went thru the near collapse of phsco…due to shortage of funds. But I can see that majority of u guys nv give up..and tried to fight for it. Haha. I still rmb someone ( name shall not be disclosed to hide identity) write a letter to our then principal (Mrs Tan) to request not to close down cca..and then it raised the attention of the cca teacher in charge. That is only one small thing I can rmb. As a senior, I feel sad that I can’t do much for u guys…sometimes, I do wish that maybe if i were born a few yrs later, den I could have been ur peers and went thru this difficult times with u guys.

But I guess it’s bcos of all these problems that u guys went through, that make u guys even stronger and able to cope with any small crops up. However, I believe that the previous exco and the present exco have done a lot for the CO too.

When I returned to CO, the discipline is so much better. At least u guys noe when to keep quiet , when to listen to the student conductor, when to behave…guess it’s bcos all of u can sense the urgency for this upcoming competition. I see the passion that u all have…taking initiative to know how to have the 台风, taking initiative to ask qns…and the never die spirit to try to improve your skills for the competition. Kudos to all of you!!!!!!

Speaking of tai feng, I’ll just said wat I observe. The best tai feng is done by the cello section and double bass. 2nd is the strings section. 3rd is tanbo( some parts got tai feng, the rest wooden block) and last is dizi section( only a few tai feng)…haha. Shall not elaborate more…
but dun be bothered too much now…if mon, u guys have the chance to improve jiu improve ba.

Do ur best for this upcoming competition. That is the most important thing. Though this competition means a lot to all of us, getting the award also may change some pp’s perceptions of our cca or wat…
those who are going for the competition for the 1st time, do not be scared and nervous. Treat this as a great learning experience that comes only once every 2 yrs. Note the ambience, atmosphere etc…den next time, u can share ur exp with new batch of juniors.
for graduating seniors of PHSCO, this is ur last chance doing everything for PHSCO le…dun worry, ur efforts will be truly recognized de. Since u guys have been thru this competition, went thru many ups and downs of PHSCO, went thru my fierce temper and diff seniors' bad temper etc…, continue to stay strong till the final lap of the competition.

I’m glad to see that all of u have a goal in mind on wat award u wan to achieve. But remember, in ur own life, it’s not measured by the amount and what type of awards u receive, thru participation in CO, u’ll learn a lot of things other than working hard to achieve that award. Wat will u have learnt??? I’ll leave this for u guys to reflect on.
For me, I’ve learnt that in Chinese Orchestra, it’s not about myself. We always have to close our eyes and listen to other sections. Being in co also taught me the importance of friendship that u’ll ever…can u imagine u have friends who share the same passion as u ..and working towards that goal???? You’re not alone at all. U’ll be even motivated to improve yourself….with friends encouraging you thru e way…..

At least, when I look back all these yrs, I nv regret making friends with justin, yvoone, Nicholas, lester , Janice etc ( pardon me for not writing everyone’s name down. But I can still recognize u guys de face and names de). They are the last batch that I last seen when I graduated from PHS. When I looked back all these yrs, it’s always the times I’ve shared u guys e most fun. Believe it anot, I still have justin chua’s little boy photo, and also jia ming and christopher’s short photos. Now, after so many yrs, seeing u guys shot up in height..is a miraculous thing. Haha.

I shall stop here.

I have instructions on what to do on that day in case I dun have a chance to tell everyone. Maybe u guys have already known or wat.
ON THE JOUNREY TO SINGAPORE CONFERENCE HALL,
I do hope all of you can quiet down and medidate throughout the journey. Wat are u supposed to do? Well. You’re supposed to imagine urself at the site of competition. each and everyone of you imagine what u’re supposed to do…including zhou tai etc. den also concentrate on recalling the performance pieces, which part are u supposed to move, listen, see conductor, play etc…

Rmb all this help cool ur nerves when u reach the hall..
I’ll reemphasis again on that day.

JIA YOU!!!!.HAVE CONFIDENCE IN UrSELF!!!!!
I believe those seniors who are not able to make it…be it in jc or in poly, in their deepest hearts, they are also wishing their juniors all the best for TUE. All of you are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love,
Ruiting ( VC of PHSCO 2006)

p/s: as a tanbo SL too, I would like to show more favourtism to tanbo. To my tanbo, although we do not really have a PROPER tanbo lao shi, e improvements in u guys de skills are truly remarkable. Ur senior loves all of you!!! :D
